Man stopped by police officers directs them to body at Forest Hill hotel
A man walking along a highway Sunday morning told Fort Worth police officers they would find the body of woman at a nearby motel.
Minutes later, police did.
The name of the victim had not been released by authorities by noon Sunday. A ruling on the woman’s death is pending an autopsy, but police said they believed the death to be a homicide.
Detectives continued to question the man Sunday.
Fort Worth police responded to a call of a man acting erratically in the 3900 block of Mansfield Highway shortly after 7:30 a.m. Sunday. They found the man, who was not armed, walking along the highway.
“Officers determined he was going to need a mental evaluation,” Forest Hill police Capt. Jerry Cosby said in a Sunday telephone interview. “The man told the officers there was a body of a woman in a motel room.”
Authorities went to the nearby Sunset Motel, in the 4100 block of Mansfield Highway, where they discovered the woman. Paramedics, believing they had a pulse, worked on her for several minutes before she was taken to a local hospital, where she died.
Fort Worth police turned over the man to the custody of Forest Hill police.
Forest Hill detectives were interviewing the man who is accused in her killing. Police did not release any information on how the man knew the victim or a motive.
