Former Trimble Tech High School student killed in Forest Hill motorcycle wreck

A young Fort Worth motorcyclist died early Monday in a local hospital from injuries he suffered in a highway wreck over the weekend, police said.

The victim was identified as Vernon Miller, 21. He died at 1:05 a.m. Monday at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website. A ruling on his death is pending an autopsy.

The wreck occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday at Wichita Street and E. California Parkway.

The motorcycle was traveling northbound on Wichita Street when it collided with a vehicle traveling westbound in the 3200 block of East California Parkway.

The motorcyclist later identified as Miller was taken to the hospital where he died.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, police said.

“He’s loved motorcycles all his life,” Miller’s cousin, Tony Gross, said Monday in a telephone interview. “He had just owned that one (motorcycle) a couple of months.”

Miller, who was known as “Vern,” graduated from Trimble Tech High School in 2014, according to Fort Worth school records. Gross said Miller played on the basketball team at Trimble Tech.

Miller had attended classes at Texas Wesleyan University in recent years.

“He was always positive,” Gross said. “He just motivated people.”

Funeral arrangements are pending.
