Oscar winner Sandra Bullock will play Wendy Davis in an upcoming biopic about the former Fort Worth state senator, according to multiple reports Thursday.

The film, "Let Her Speak," will focus on Davis' filibuster against an abortion bill in 2013, Deadline reported.

Davis, a Democrat, drew national attention when she stood and spoke for more than 11 hours on June 25, 2013, on the floor of the Texas Senate. The filibuster delayed a vote on the abortion bill, but it was passed several weeks later during a second special session.

Davis unsuccessfully ran for governor in 2014, losing to Greg Abbott.

Before her election to the state Senate in 2008, Davis served on the Fort Worth City Council for nine years. She moved to Austin last year.

A TV show loosely based on Davis' life had been in the works this year, but the proposed dramedy wasn't picked up by a network, Davis told the Star-Telegram in March.

Bullock won an Oscar in 2010 for her role in "The Blind Side." She was also nominated for an Oscar in 2014 for her role in "Gravity."
