Aryan Circle member given 20 years in federal prison for part in meth ring
An Aryan Circle member was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in a meth drug ring.
Scott Edward Grigsby, a 44-year-old White Settlement man known by the nickname “Skinny Pup,” plead guilty in May to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
He was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge John McBryde.
According to federal court documents, undercover Texas Department of Public Safety agents twice purchased methamphetamine from Grigsby in fall 2015.
In February 2016, White Settlement police arrested Grigsby for possession and distributing illegal narcotics. A search of his residence uncovered 67 grams of meth and drug paraphernalia.
He was arrested again in April 2016 after Fort Worth police received information he was selling meth from a west Fort Worth apartment. During a search of that apartment, officers found 13.5 grams of meth, records show.
Federal charges were pursued in the cases. Grigsby had been in federal custody since April.
He is appealing his sentence.
An offshoot of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, the Aryan Circle was formed in the mid-1980s. The second-largest gang in the Texas prison system, the Aryan Circle has grown to more than 1,400 members, mostly in Texas.
Experts say the focus of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas and the Aryan Circle is more often criminal profit — frequently by making and dealing meth — than hate crimes. Often the rival gangs’ violence is aimed at each other.
