Fire destroys commercial building in Johnson County
A huge fire destroyed a commercial building Tuesday morning just northwest of Grandview, authorities said, but no injuries were reported.
Firefighters battled the blaze for about three hours before it was contained at the AES Drilling Fluids.
“Chemicals are on fire,” Johnson County emergency management coordinator Jamie Moore said in a telephone interview as firefighters battled the fire.
A few nearby businesses were evacuated, but no homes, Moore said.
The fire was reported just after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
