The Grand Prairie Fire Department battled a fire Thursday morning at Grand Prairie High School.

Firefighters saw smoke from the fourth floor when they arrived at the school about 7 a.m., the Fire Department said in a Facebook post. Forty-two firefighters worked to control the fire and extinguished it within two hours.

The fire, which was in a building under construction, accidentally started between the floors during the construction process, the post stated.

There were no injuries, fire officials said.

The Grand Prairie Independent School District will assess the building for needed repairs before the start of the new school year.
