Two HEB ISD school campuses evacuated due to bomb threat Wednesday, Euless police say
Two Euless school campuses were evacuated due to threatening messages Wednesday afternoon, officials with the Euless Police Department and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD said.
Students at Central Junior High and KEYS High School were evacuated from their buildings starting about 11:15 a.m., according to a statement on the HEB ISD website.
At 11:32 a.m., students and staff at both campuses were evacuated by bus to the HEB ISD administration complex, district officials said.
As of 3:05 p.m., fewer than 140 students were still waiting for pickup at the administration building, officials said.
Euless police said that students were evacuated as a precaution because of a bomb threat. In an update Wednesday afternoon, police said that the department’s criminal investigators learned it was one of multiple bomb threats sent to various central Texas schools.
“The threats were generalized in nature and determined not to be credible,” police said in a statement. “There is no ongoing threat to public safety at this time.”
Police dogs from DFW International Airport, bomb squad officers from the Northeast Tarrant County Area SWAT Team, and bomb squad members from the Northeast Fire Department Association and North Richland Hills Fire Department searched and cleared the school buildings, and no explosives were found, authorities said.
