A family violence and assault charge against Mansfield school board member Bianca Benavides Anderson has been dropped, her attorney confirmed Thursday afternoon.

Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Ascot Park Drive in Mansfield in the early hours of Oct. 22 and found cause to arrest Benavides Anderson, who was then taken to the Mansfield Jail.

Benavides Anderson was elected to the Mansfield school board in May. The charges against her were dropped Dec. 20, her attorney Bruce Ashworth of Arlington said.

“I look forward to getting back to the duties and responsibilities of serving the students, staff and families of Mansfield Independent School District,” Benavides Anderson said during a meeting after the board reconvened from a closed session Dec. 20.

Benavides Anderson did not answer a phone call for comment and did not return an email for comment. When reached by phone Thursday, Ashworth had no comment about the dropped charges.
