Representatives from Texas Christian University will ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Friday.

TCU leaders, including Chancellor Victor Boschini Jr. and Daniel Pullin, the John V. Roach Dean of the Neeley School of Business; students and alumni are gathering at the stock exchange Friday as a lead-up to the university’s 150th anniversary, according to a news release.

“For 150 years, we have been educating students to lead in the global community,” Boschini said in the press release. “We’re ready for the next 150 years as we continue to innovate and prepare the next generation of leaders. With this bell-ringing, we recognize and celebrate the thousands of Horned Frogs working in business, strategy and finance, leading enterprise here on Wall Street, on Main Street and around the world.”

The closing bell signals the end of the day’s trading at the stock exchange. Guests, including politicians, celebrities and executives, often have the honor of ringing the bell to open or close the exchange. In 1956, 10-year-old Leonard Ross, the winner of a television quiz show, became the first guest to ring the NYSE bell.

The closing bell rings at 4 p.m. EDT and lasts for 15 seconds.

The ceremony will be livestreamed at 2:35 CDT p.m. on TCU’s Facebook page.
