Aledo Middle School shuts down Thursday after morning fire

A two-alarm fire at Aledo Middle School on Thursday morning has left the campus closed down for the day, officials said.

“This morning the fire department was called to AMS because of smoke in the building in the new fine arts area,” Aledo Independent School District said on its website and Facebook page. “While we are working with the fire department to investigate the cause, due to that investigation and the significant impact on areas that serve students in the building, we are not able to have school at the campus Thursday Jan. 13.”

Surrounding fire departments, including from Willow Park, Weatherford and Cresson, helped contain the blaze.

No one was injured in the fire.

The ongoing investigation will be looked into by the Aledo and Parker County Fire Marshal’s Offices.
