School officials cancel classes at Frisco’s Lone Star High School after threats received

Frisco school district officials canceled classes for Monday and Tuesday at Lone Star High School after threats were made over the weekend on social media.

Frisco police are investigating the threats at the school, at 2606 Panther Creek Parkway.

WFAA-TV, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s media partner, reported an initial threat was made Friday and a second threat was made Sunday.

The threats came through a social media post and a letter.

Frisco police did not release details of the threats.

“Our department will exhaust all means necessary to ensure the safety of the students, faculty and staff,” Frisco police posted on the department’s Facebook page on Monday. “We are working diligently with Frisco ISD and other partners to investigate these threats and find those responsible.”

The threats follow reported threats at other schools in North Texas. Carrollton police posted on Friday that officers were investigating a threat at Hebron High School. The school is in the Lewisville school district.

“We ALWAYS take social media threats very seriously, and are investigating one today referencing Hebron High School,” according to the post. “Several LISD campuses are experiencing the same issue.”

Carrollton police also noted that they had no evidence to indicate a credible threat.

In Frisco, anyone with information on the social media post or letter threatening Lone Star High School should contact Frisco police at 972-292-6010.
