A woman died and a man was injured Thursday night in a house fire in northeast Dallas, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
At around 7:10 p.m., fire units responded to a 911 call about a fire at a home in the 12200 block of Schroeder Road.
When firefighters arrived at the one-story residence, they observed smoke coming from the front windows of the home.
A neighbor who had already attempted to go into the house informed firefighters that occupants were possibly still inside, according to the fire department.
Fire crews deployed hand lines and made their way inside while also conducting search and rescue and suppression operations, the fire department said.
During their efforts, firefighters found an unresponsive adult female and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters also pulled an adult male from the house and immediately took him to a rescue unit where medics began life-saving measures before transporting him to a local hospital. His condition is unknown, the fire department says.
The identities of the victims were not released.
There were no other reported injuries and no other occupants in the house.
The cause of the fire will be listed as "undetermined" pending the Dallas County Medical Examiner's ruling on the victim's cause of death.
