Security guard shoots, kills woman in gunfire exchange at Dallas Motel 6, police say

A security officer fatally shot a woman outside of a Motel 6 in Dallas late Thursday night as the two fired toward each other, police said.

The woman, whose identity wasn’t released, was reportedly found dead in her vehicle with injuries from the shooting. The security officer was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He works for a private company, police spokesperson Officer Tamika Dameron said in an email. The investigation into the incident is in its early stages, Dameron said, and “it appears there was an exchange of gunfire and both the security guard and the female were shot.”

“How this started is still unclear,” she said.

The shooting occurred around 10:40 p.m. Thursday at the Motel 6 in the 1600 block of Regal Row, police said.

KXAS-TV reported the woman fired across the street toward the security guard at the motel. The security guard fired back, striking the woman, the news station reported.
