Fort Worth teen faces capital murder charge in shooting death of 19-year-old, police say
A Fort Worth teen was in custody Thursday and accused in the May shooting death of 19-year-old on a Fort Worth street.
Patrick Wade, 18, was booked into jail Wednesday afternoon. He faces a charge of capital murder.
Wade is accused of being involved in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Tyion Nickolelis Scruggs of Fort Worth.
The 19-year-old was found dead shortly after 8:30 a.m. May 26 in the 400 block of South Edgewood Terrace in east Fort Worth.
Scruggs died from a gunshot wound to his chest, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website on Wednesday. His death was ruled a homicide.
A patrol officer was flagged down in the neighborhood by someone after the shooting had occurred on the street. The officer found the teen on Edgewood Terrace.
Scruggs was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Fort Worth homicide detectives have not released any information on a motive.
