Man arrested after recording women in Irving bathrooms, police say
A 19-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly recording several women inside the restroom and other private areas of local businesses, Irving police said in a news release Thursday.
Makarious Jevonne Bates faces multiple counts of invasive visual recording, and investigators believe there may be additional victims, according to the release.
Officers were called to the 7700 block of North MacArthur Boulevard on June 3 after someone reported a man recording and taking photos of women inside the restroom and dressing room areas.
“During the investigation, officers learned the suspect had entered the location on multiple occasions and engaged in the same behavior,” the release states.
Bates was identified as the suspect and arrested June 26, police said. Electronic evidence indicates the unlawful recording may have started in April and occurred at shopping centers located in the 7500 block to the 7800 block of North MacArthur Boulevard.
