‘Hard-earned reputation’: Tarrant County sues two crime-heavy Fort Worth hotels
On June 23, Tarrant County District Attorney Phil Sorrells filed two nuisance lawsuits against the Delux Inn and the Super 7 Inn, both in the 4400 block of South Freeway in south Fort Worth near Carter Park.
Over 900 calls for service were generated at the Delux Inn between Jan. 1, 2024, and May 11, 2026, according to the lawsuits, with over 700 generated during that same time period at the Super 7 Inn.
Crimes reported in those calls for service, according to Fort Worth police, include drug and weapons charges violations, aggravated assaults, robberies, and criminal trespassing, in addition to prostitution, unlawful carrying of weapons, and disorderly conduct.
The lawsuits, filed in the Tarrant County District Court, accuse both hotels — and their operators — of being “havens of crime.”
The DA’s office is asking a judge to grant injunctions against both hotels and their managers, asking them to stop the criminal activity immediately and post a $10,000 bond.
Additionally, Sorrell’s office is asking a judge for a trial against the hotels to obtain a permanent judgment that could close the businesses for a full year.
“Protecting our community is my top priority, which is why my office filed petitions in court today requiring these owners of these motels to clean up their properties or shut down,” Sorrells said at a press conference on Tuesday.
Hearings had not yet been scheduled in the cases as of Tuesday afternoon.
These hotels were two out of the 10 hotels that accounted for over 2,000 Fort Worth police calls, a recent Star-Telegram investigation found.
