Family remembers ‘bright smile’ of 26-year-old man killed in Fort Worth shooting
The family of a 26-year-old man who was shot and killed in Fort Worth last week remembers his bright smile and genuine laugh.
Byron DaCameron Cherry was identified as the homicide victim who was brought to the emergency room at John Peter Smith on June 16, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website.
Cherry was shot twice in the upper torso and died at the hospital, according to police.
Homicide detectives were interviewing the people who took Cherry to the hospital and trying to find out where the shooting occurred, police have said. No arrests have been announced.
‘A bright smile that could ignite a room’
An online obituary described Cherry as someone with “a bright smile that could ignite a room and a laugh so genuine it invited everyone around him to join in joy.“
“Known for his humor and outgoing nature, he never met a stranger,” his family wrote in the obituary. “His love was fierce and unreserved, an openhearted embrace of the world and its people that made those who knew him feel profoundly seen and cherished.”
The obituary also described Cherry as someone who lived “unapologetically” and inspired others to do the same.
