50-year-old Mansfield woman fatally stabbed during argument identified
A 50-year-old Mansfield mother fatally stabbed during an argument Saturday was deeply loved before she was taken away, relatives said.
Latashia Shannel Polk died of multiple stab wounds, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website.
Jarishia Jackson, was arrested and faces a murder charge in the fatal stabbing, according to police.
Argument led to fatal stabbing
An argument among Polk, Jackson and a 43-year-old man in the 200 block of Morgan Road in Mansfield, escalated into a physical fight between the two women, police said.
When officers arrived shortly before 11 p.m., they found Polk suffering multiple stab wounds and Jackson suffering injuries as well. Both women were treated by paramedics and taken to Methodist Mansfield Hospital, police said.
Polk was pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m., police said.
Jackson was booked into the Mansfield Police Department Jail after she was released from the hospital. Police continue to investigate the homicide.
Absence is felt by family
Polk, who picked out the wedding dress, will not be able to see her daughter walk down the aisle this year and see her senior “cross the stage or send her off to college,” her family wrote in a GoFundMe post organized for funeral expenses.
“There are so many things she won’t get to do, not because she didn’t want to, not because she didn’t try but because her life was taken from her,” the post read.
“We want people to remember Latashia for her life, her spirit, and the love she gave to those around her,” the post read. “She mattered, and we will continue advocating for accountability and justice on her behalf.”
