Fort Worth police have determined that an April 30 road rage shooting that killed a man in northwest Fort Worth was a justifiable homicide, according to online records.

The victim was identified as 61-year-old Pedro Martinez.

Martinez and another driver had a road rage altercation while traveling northbound on Interstate 35W and exited near Meacham Boulevard, police said at the time.

When the two stopped at the next traffic signal, “some type of incident” occurred and the other driver, who was not arrested, shot Martinez. That driver then immediately called police to report the shooting, and cooperated with homicide detectives.

The case will be presented to the Tarrant County district attorney, who will make the final decision on whether charges will be filed, a police spokesperson said.
