Two dead, three injured in shooting at Carrollton Korean markets
Two people died and three others were injured Tuesday in a shooting near Carrollton’s K Towne Plaza, a shopping center mainly populated by Korean businesses, police Chief Roberto Arredondo said.
Police were dispatched to the 4000 block of Texas 121 shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday morning in response to reports of the shooting and possible wounded people, Arredondo said. When officers arrived, they located “victims of apparent gunshot wounds.”
The first deceased man and the three injured people, two males and one female, were found at the K Towne shopping plaza, police clarified in a release Tuesday evening.
The shooting encompassed “multiple scenes” across the K Towne shopping plaza at Texas 121 and Hebron Parkway, Arredondo said. Additionally, there was an active scene at another shopping plaza, known locally as “Koreatown,” at Interstate 35 and the President George Bush Turnpike.
While police were investigating the first shooting, they received a report of a second shooting at 11:13 a.m. in the 2700 block of Old Denton Road, according to the statement. There, officers found a second deceased man inside an apartment.
Investigators determined that all the shootings were committed by the same suspect, 69-year-old Seung Ho Han, according to the statement.
Han was arrested after a foot chase at the second location, at a nearby H Mart, Arredondo said.
Detectives interviewed Han, who confessed to shooting all five people because he was angry with them over financial disagreements in their business dealings, according to the statement.
