A federal jury in Fort Worth this week found a Keller man guilty of trying to bring a firearm through Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in 2024, U.S. attorneys for the Northern District of Texas said in a statement.

Xavier Lamar Mottley, 44, had prior felony convictions at the federal and state level when he attempted to check the firearm in baggage under the name of his minor daughter in July 2024, according to the statement.

After TSA and DPS agents confronted him, Mottley lied about his felony status and whether he owned the gun. Mottley and his wife testified that the gun belonged to his wife and that she had forgotten to remove the loaded, unsecured firearm from the baggage after traveling with it the year prior.

Mottley is set for sentencing in August, according to the statement.
