A man was fatally shot early Wednesday outside an Everman home and a suspect has been arrested, police said.

Officers responded to a disturbance call about 6 a.m. in the 500 block of Georgetown Drive, Everman police said in a news release.

As information was being collected from the 911 caller, multiple gunshots were heard over the phone, police said. When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.

Everman Fire Department EMS provided emergency treatment and the shooting victim was taken to Texas Health Huguley Hospital, where he later died, according to police. He will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A suspected shooter was found several blocks away from the home and taken into custody. Investigators found a handgun which had been discarded by the suspect as he fled the scene, police said.

The suspect’s name has not been released.

Police said the homicide is believed to be an isolated incident that resulted from a domestic relationship and there is no threat to public safety.
