Fort Worth missing-person case ends in homicide. Suspect killed coworker, cops say
Fort Worth police arrested a man who they say shot and killed his coworker, then dumped the man’s body in a field on the east side of the city.
Gregory D. Lewis, 34, confessed to the crime and faces a capital murder charge, police said in a news release.
The victim, 31-year-old Thomas Gorman King, was originally reported missing to police on April 14 after he didn’t return home from work at Taco Casa on Bridgewood Drive the previous day, according to the statement. Detectives later found the victim’s car parked outside a Quality Inn off Interstate 20 in Arlington.
Officers reviewed surveillance video footage and found that someone, later determined to be Lewis, arrived at the motel in King’s car shortly after the victim left work, police said.
Police arrested Lewis on unrelated charges Thursday, then found the victim’s body in the field on Friday, according to the statement. At that time, Lewis confessed to killing King and stealing his car, police said.
King was shot in the head and his body was found in a wooded area in the 6800 block of Manhattan Boulevard, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
