Victim possibly returns fire, killing shooter in apartment in Fort Worth: cops
A man who was shot at a social gathering early Monday inside an apartment along the Trinity River near downtown Fort Worth possibly returned fire, killing his shooter, police said.
The homicide occurred about 3 a.m. in the 500 block of Cabral Circle, Fort Worth police said.
The suspect, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 22-year-old Joemichael Navarro, was pronounced dead at the apartment from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The victim was taken to a hospital and is stable, police said.
Navarro, who was known by at least one person at the party, arrived at the scene armed with a gun and started causing a disturbance, authorities said. During the disturbance, Navarro fired at least one round into the crowd inside the apartment, authorities said.
The man who was shot possibly returned fire, striking the shooter, police said.
Detectives are continuing to interview multiple witnesses.
