Students temporarily evacuated after bomb threat at Lewisville charter school
Students at a North Texas K-12 charter school were temporarily evacuated Friday morning due to a bomb threat.
The Lewisville Police Department and Fire Department responded to Founders Classical Academy, at 1010 Bellaire Blvd. in Lewisville, shortly after 8 a.m. The students were sent to a nearby church while law enforcement and school officials conducted a safety check of the campus, police said on Facebook.
“No suspicious devices or hazards were located, and an all-clear was issued shortly after 9:00 a.m.,” the post reads.
Students returned to their classrooms to finish out the school day. Police said officers will remain on site Friday as an extra precaution.
No arrests have been announced in connection with the threat, and the incident is under investigation, according to the post.
“We are aware that other schools in other cities have received similar threats,” police said. “At this time, LPD does not have confirmed information regarding how many schools were affected, when the threats were received, or the delivery methods involved.”
