A 27-year-old man in custody of the Tarrant County Jail escaped barefoot while being transferred Monday morning and was later arrested, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Carlos Enrique Rodriguez Romero was being transferred back to jail after a court appearance in downtown Fort Worth about 11:45 a.m. when he ran in the 4600 block of Mark IV Parkway, officials with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Rodriguez Romero was last seen wearing white boxers, a white undershirt and no shoes, officials said.

The Sheriff’s Office said Rodriguez Romero was later found in a trailer park a few blocks away and taken into custody.

Rodriguez Romero was initially booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Dec. 4 and faces felony charges of aggravated robbery and tampering with a government record, officials said.

The Fort Worth and North Richland Hills Police Departments and Tarrant County Constable’s Office assisted in searching for and arresting Rodriguez Romero, officials said.
