Hurst woman allegedly stole packages from porches, mailboxes. Cops seek victims

A woman at times wore a wig when in November and December she stole packages from porches and mailboxes in Colleyville and neighboring North Texas cities, police said on Thursday.

Danielle Copeland, 42, of Hurst was charged on Thursday with one count of theft-mail from fewer than 10 addresses.

In video surveillance recordings, Copeland wore a face mask, denim pants and tennis shoes, Colleyville police said. When it rained, she wore a jacket with the hood up. When the temperature was warm, the “porch pirate” wore a T-shirt and a wig, police said.

During a search of the loaner vehicle Copeland was driving at the time of her arrest on Tuesday, detectives found about 50 items that were likely stolen, police said. Shipping labels were torn off.

Aiming to return the items to their owners, police asked people who believe they were package theft victims between Dec. 18 and Jan. 6 to contact Detective Zachary Watson at 817-503-1266.
