Man breaks into Arlington apartment to kidnap ex, shoot her new boyfriend
A 25-year-old man faces multiple charges after kidnapping his ex-girlfriend at an Arlington apartment complex Tuesday night and shooting her new boyfriend. Two children and a third adult escaped uninjured.
Aaron Webb was arrested in Fort Worth and is being held in the Arlington City Jail, according to police.
Officers were called to the 700 block of Forest Hills Drive near Whole Foods Market in north Arlington about 11:10 p.m. Webb had broken into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and shot her 29-year-old boyfriend, police said.
The shooting victim, a woman and two children escaped from the apartment by climbing out a back window. Webb forced his ex-girlfriend into her own car and drove off, according to police.
Flock cameras spotted the vehicle in Fort Worth, and Webb was arrested without incident. Police said the kidnapped woman was unharmed except for some injuries to her face where Webb allegedly hit her.
The woman told investigators she had moved to the area from out of state in an attempt to get away from Webb. He followed her to Arlington and kept calling and texting her.
Webb was booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of stalking, one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle, one count of aggravated kidnapping, one count of burglary of a habitation with intent to assault, three counts of deadly conduct, one count of aggravated assault family violence and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury.
The injured man was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to survive, according to police.
