Fort Worth police investigating report of apartment squatter armed with AR-15

An apartment complex maintenance employee told Fort Worth police that he was surprised by a man wielding a rifle when the worker entered what was supposed to be a vacant unit.

According to a police call log, the incident happened about 9:20 a.m. Monday at the Wind River Apartments, at 8725 Calmont Ave. in west Fort Worth.

As of Monday afternoon, the incident was still under investigation, according to a police spokesperson. The caller reported that a man and a woman were found inside the vacant unit when the maintenance employee went in to perform work. The male suspect allegedly pointed an AR-15 rifle at the employee, who fled and called police.

No injuries were reported, and the caller said no shots were fired.

Jail records show that a man and a woman face trespassing charges in the case. The suspects were arrested and booked into the Fort Worth police detention center Monday afternoon, records show.
