Teen accused of attacking woman with hammer at North Texas park arrested

A teenage suspect accused of using a hammer to attack a woman jogging at a Plano park on Thursday is in custody, police said.

Officers responded to Bob Woodruff Park in the 2300 block of Shiloh Road about 5 p.m., Plano police said in a news release. A woman reported being assaulted by an unknown man who hit her with a hammer.

The attacker ran from the scene, according to the release, and the woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested 17-year-old Sergio Noe De Nova Duarte of Plano in connection with the crime. He’s being held in the Collin County Detention Facility and faces a charge of aggravated kidnapping with bodily injury, officials said.
