A man shot his girlfriend to death Tuesday night inside a far east Fort Worth apartment, left the scene and was taken into custody in Irving, police said.

Nelson Garcia, 28, contacted the police and said that he had shot the woman, Casandra Majano, 23, authorities said.

Garcia, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, shot his girlfriend in the head in the 3700 block of Vaucluse Drive, Fort Worth police said. A relative of Majano was the first to report, about 9 p.m., the shooting to police.

Garcia shot the victim during an argument at the apartment, police said.

Medical personnel pronounced Majano dead in the apartment.
