Rapper BigXthaPlug arrested for second time this year in Dallas-Fort Worth
Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug has been arrested on marijuana charges in Dallas-Fort Worth for the second time this year.
The rapper, whose legal name is Xavier Landum, was booked into the Dallas County Jail at 2:20 a.m. Friday on charges of marijuana possession of less than two ounces and unlawful possession of a firearm, WFAA-TV reported. Landum’s arrest came on the heels of the artist’s latest album release: His LP “I Hope You’re Happy” came out at midnight Friday.
Landum was scheduled to attend an album release party Thursday night at Deep Ellum’s Cash Cow bar, according to KDFW-TV. A second album release party set for Friday at a WingStop location has also been canceled.
An arrest warrant affidavit says police responded to a car club meeting in the 7900 block of Great Trinity Forest Way in southwest Dallas, according to WFAA. Police noticed that Landum’s truck did not have a front license plate and made contact with the rapper about that problem.
During the conversation with the officer, Landum told police he had a gun under his armrest, according to WFAA. When police searched his vehicle, they found 3.4 grams of marijuana in the vehicle and arrested Landum, the affidavit states.
The officer checked an online database and found that Arlington police had Landum listed as a documented gang member, according to WFAA.
The rapper’s new album features collaborations with country stars like Darius Rucker, Shaboozey and Luke Combs. In June, Shaboozey and Landum made headlines by shutting down the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge during rush-hour Dallas traffic to film a music video for their song “Home.”
