Mom’s vehicle with 5-year-old child inside stolen at La Gran Plaza in Fort Worth
A mother was putting away a shopping cart at La Gran Plaza mall in south Fort Worth on Sunday when two men got in her SUV and drove away with her 5-year-old child inside, police said.
The auto theft occurred about 6:15 p.m. at Town Center Service Road and West Seminary Drive, a Fort Worth police spokesperson said.
The mother had placed groceries in the back of the vehicle that she left running, the police spokesperson said. The mother called to report the incident as a possible kidnapping, according to a 911 call log.
A witness reported that the thieves stopped and placed the child outside the stolen vehicle and then drove off.
The mother and child did not suffer injuries, police said.
Police did not announce an arrest. The vehicle was last seen in Arlington. It was described as a gray Ford Expedition, according to the call log.
