Drunken driver who killed pedestrian in Fort Worth gets 10 years of probation
A drunken driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in northwest Fort Worth pleaded guilty last week to intoxication manslaughter.
Alexia Lopez, 24, reached an agreement with the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office on a plea bargain.
Under the terms of the agreement on the intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle plea, Lopez was on Aug. 13 ordered in the 213th District Court in Tarrant County to serve 10 years on probation. Labor detail service, a driver’s license suspension and urinalysis are among the conditions of Lopez’s probation. If Lopez violates a condition, a judge could revoke her probation and sentence her to a prison term.
Lopez’s vehicle struck Rosa Ana Barron in traffic on May 25, 2024, according to the Fort Worth Police Department. Barron was 55.
Barron died about 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of N.W. 28th Street and Prospect Avenue. Barron was in the main lanes of the street, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
