55-year-old pedestrian killed by drunk driver in northwest Fort Worth, police say

A 55-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in northwest Fort Worth early Saturday, and the driver who hit her faces an intoxication manslaughter charge, police said.

Officers responded to the intersection of N.W. 28th Street and Prosper Avenue shortly before 12:30 a.m. regarding a major accident. Investigators determined a vehicle hit a woman who was in traffic.

The victim died at the scene, according to police. She’s identified as Rosa Ana Barron on the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website.

The driver, 23-year-old Alexia Lopez, was arrested and booked into the Fort Worth City Jail on the charge of intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle, according to jail records.

Detectives from the Traffic Investigation Unit are investigating the accident.
