A husband and wife are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in North Richland Hills last week, police said.

On July 10, someone requested a welfare check for a woman after they were unable to contact her, police said. Officers responded to the home in the 3400 block of Wendell Drive, but nobody answered the door or phone.

When the officers were able to get inside, they found 54-year-old Dana Lynne Ross and 55-year-old Carl Arthur Ross dead with gunshot wounds to the head. Detectives are investigating their deaths as a murder-suicide, according to police.

Officials believe Carl Ross shot Dana Ross and then turned the gun on himself, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Investigators learned the couple were experiencing marital issues, but police said officers had never been called to their home prior to the shooting.

Dana Ross worked as a human resources coordinator at Conestoga Energy in Southlake, according to her LinkedIn profile and online obituary.

Dana Ross “will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the beautiful way she lived it,” the North Texas woman’s family wrote in an obituary.

The 54-year-old loved spending time with her three children, her obituary states. She also enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including baking and crafts.

“The profound impact of her love, her strength, and her compassionate heart will forever resonate in the lives of those she touched,” the obituary reads. “She will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the beautiful way she lived it.”
