2 people killed in murder-suicide at Arlington hair salon, police say

Two people, including the suspect, died Friday morning in a south Arlington shooting, police say.

Two people died Friday morning in a murder-suicide at a hair salon in south Arlington, police said.

Officers were called to the salon in a strip shopping center near the 7800 block of South Cooper Street about 10:15 a.m. after someone reported gunfire.

Witnesses reported seeing a woman enter the salon and shoot a male customer several times, Arlington police said in a news release Friday afternoon. The woman tried to leave the building, but noticed the officers and went back into the salon before shooting herself.

She and the man were taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead, police said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 37-year-old William Todd Austin. The woman was identified as 37-year-old Tmone Michelle Williams.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, but detectives later learned the man and woman had previously been in a romantic relationship, police said.

The investigation is still in the early stages, according to police.
