Off-duty Arlington officer involved in shooting Sunday, Weatherford police say
An off-duty Arlington police officer was involved in a shooting at a warehouse in Weatherford on Sunday afternoon, June 15, police said.
Weatherford police responded about 1 p.m. to the business in the 2500 block of E. Interstate 20, to investigate a shooting involving an off-duty officer from another agency, authorities said.
Arlington police confirmed the officer is with their department. The officer was not injured and has been placed on administrative leave, per policy, Arlington police said.
Police have not said whether anyone else was injured in the shooting. KXAS-TV reported that a tow truck was seen removing an SUV that had three bullet holes in its windshield.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Weatherford police responded to a 911 call at the business. The business owner told police that the business was being burglarized and the owner stopped the burglary, a DPS spokesperson said in a news release.
The investigation is in its early stages, and the Texas Rangers are on scene to assist, Weatherford police said.
