Two men killed in shooting near south Fort Worth gas station, police say
Two men who exchanged gunfire were killed in a shooting early Sunday, April 20, near a gas station along Interstate 20 in south Fort Worth, police said.
Officers were called to the Valero station at 5529 James Avenue about 4:30 a.m. A 911 caller reported that their sister had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found two male shooting victims with wounds to their upper bodies, police said in a news release. Both men were pronounced dead by medics at the scene.
A third shooting victim — a woman — went to a hospital in a personal vehicle and she was treated and released, police said.
Homicide detectives determined that the two men who died had both pulled out handguns and shot each other after an argument. The third victim apparently was shot in the crossfire, police said.
A third shooter also pulled a gun and fired at one of the men who died, investigators said. That person remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office and a police report identified the men who died as 23-year-old Tyreke Fletcher and 32-year-old John Gabriel Garcia.
No arrests have been made in the case.
Homicide detectives are investigating what the argument was about.
