A teenager was one of two people who beat a 71-year-old man as he was lying on the ground four weeks ago in the Morningside section of Fort Worth, police said.

Donald Snellings was assaulted and suffered injuries to his upper body on March 21 in the 900 block of East Broadway Avenue. He died last week.

Police on Thursday took into custody Javaughn Greer, 18, on an arrest warrant for murder that Fort Worth police detectives obtained from a judge.

Police have not arrested the second suspect, and declined on Friday to release details of the homicide investigation.

Snellings was taken to a hospital and died on April 11 at a hospice inpatient center. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released the cause or manner of Snellings’ death. Results of an autopsy will be posted to the medical examiner’s office website when the report is completed.
