Fort Worth police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a 21-year-old man on March 27, according to online arrest records.

Milton Wilson, 19, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and faces a charge of capital murder in the fatal shooting of Maddox Moses Garza, according to the arrest records.

A police report indicates a second suspect also was taken into custody, but that person’s name has not been released.

Officers found Garza in his car at the Lauren Apartments complex in the 6000 block of Portico Drive, in southwest Fort Worth, on the night of March 27, the Star-Telegram previously reported. He had a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Garza was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries in the emergency room, police said.

Garza graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in 2022 and was scheduled to graduate this summer from Tarrant County College with an associate’s degree in business, according to his obituary.

“He always had an interest in automobiles, so it was not surprising to see him succeeding as a mechanic,” family members wrote in the obituary. “He enjoyed working on classic cars with his dad and cousins, listening to music and hanging out with his friends and family. At family gatherings, he would always keep his cousins laughing. He was a sweet, caring soul who was always there for his parents, grandparents and any family member that needed him.”

In the days after the homicide, police and the victim’s family asked for the public’s help to identify his killer.

Police have not released further information about the circumstances or the motive for the killing.

Wilson was transferred from the Fort Worth City Jail to the Tarrant County Jail, where he was being held Wednesday on $500,000 bond. A defense attorney in the case is not yet listed in court records.
