Suspect accused of killing roommate in Fort Worth arrested when police chase ends in Hurst
A Fort Worth man who is accused of killing his roommate was arrested Monday night when a police chase involving dozens of officers ended in Hurst with the suspect being tased after crashing his vehicle, according to police.
The investigation began when officers were called to Stockton Drive about 6:15 p.m. to take a report from a caller who said that the suspect came to his home and confessed to harming the suspect’s roommate, police spokesperson Brad Perez said during a news conference.
The suspect’s apartment is in the 700 block of Ipswich Avenue in far north Fort Worth, and police found a woman dead at that address, Officer Perez said.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as 28-year-old Ariel Levy. A ruling on her cause and manner of death are still pending an autopsy.
The suspect had left the caller’s home on Stockton Drive, in south Fort Worth, before officers arrived, but officers spotted his vehicle and began chasing him, police said. The pursuit lasted about 38 minutes, went along Northeast Loop 820 and ended near a Lowe’s store on Texas 26 (Grapevine Highway) east of Precinct Line Road in Hurst, police said.
The suspect crashed after officers used spike strips, and he was taken into custody about 7:50 p.m., Perez said. The suspect’s name has not been released. He received medical treatment after officers tased him, and he was being interviewed by homicide detectives, police said.
Fort Worth police homicide detectives are leading the investigation.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
