Former basketball coach arrested on child indecency charges, Southlake police say
Southlake police have arrested a 28-year-old Aubrey man in connection with allegations of child sexual abuse.
The man, Mitchell Joseph Allan, is accused of committing the offenses while serving as a coach for a private basketball program, police said in a news release.
Police obtained arrest warrants for Allan on two counts of indecency with a child/sexual contact on Jan. 29.
Allan was arrested by the Elm Ridge Police Department and booked into the Denton County Jail on Feb. 1, police said.
Due to the age of the child and the nature of the investigation, no further details are being released, police said.
The arrest is the second of its kind that resulted from an investigation in Southlake in recent weeks. A 26-year-old former water polo coach, Adrian Joseph Maher, was arrested on similar charges on Feb. 5.
Southlake police urge parents with children who may have interacted with either coach to contact Detective Roberson with the department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 817-748-8235 if they suspect abuse.
