A 35-year-old North Texas man was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Wednesday, Jan. 8, for sexually assaulting a child.

Emanuel Ortega was found guilty after he intoxicated and sexually abused a teenage girl for two years, the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office said in a social media post.

On Dec. 4, 2022, the victim reported to Arlington police that Ortega periodically gave her alcohol and drugs including mushrooms and marijuana before assaulting her.

The assaults happened from when she was 14 years old until she was 16, the post said.

A jury found Ortega guilty of seven counts of sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child/sexual contact, according to court records.

The District Attorney’s Office thanked the Arlington Police Department, Arlington police Detective Branch, and the Alliance for Children for their work on the case.
