One of the men accused of murder in a 2022 beating death has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on a related gun charge, Tarrant County officials said.

The defendant, 48-year-old Quincey Parker, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon after police found the weapon while serving an arrest warrant in the murder case, officials said. At his trial on Tuesday, Jan. 7, a jury found Parker guilty of the gun charge.

Parker had been previously convicted and was on parole for a separate 1997 murder, Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney Phil Sorrells said in a social media post.

Parker was among three people charged with murder in the February 2022 death of 24-year-old Jordan Harris, who was the ex-boyfriend of Parker’s sister, investigators said at the time.

Parker’s sister Mia Rhodes, who was also charged with Harris’ murder, was shot to death in July 2022 by Harris’ cousin, according to Fort Worth police.

Harris’ body was found at DFW Airport in the back of a Toyota 4Runner he had rented from Avis shortly before his death, according to a search warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram.

The Toyota had been reported stolen by Avis employees and had been returned to the airport from an impound lot shortly before Harris’ body was found inside, police said.

Detectives found that Harris’ body had been wrapped in layers of blankets and shower curtains that were seen in photos on Rhodes’ Instagram account, according to the affidavit.

Harris’ cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head, authorities said.

During a search of Rhodes’ house in Fort Worth, police found multiple blood spatter and smear marks consistent with blood coming from strikes to the head with a blunt object, according to the affidavit.

Before his death, Harris had been accused of assaulting and stalking Rhodes, according to Tarrant County court records. A grand jury declined to indict him in the stalking case, but he served 45 days in jail for assault and violating an order of protection. Fort Worth police responded to eight domestic violence incidents involving the couple in 2020 and 2021, according to police reports.

Surveillance video from Rhodes’ neighborhood showed Rhodes, Parker and another man arrive at her home early on the morning of Feb. 26, 2022, shortly before Harris arrived, police wrote in the affidavit. That was the last time Harris was seen alive, police said. Investigators believed that surveillance video also shows one of the suspects drive the 4Runner out of Rhodes’ garage and abandon the vehicle at an apartment complex, where it was later found and towed away.

As a result of Parker’s sentencing on the gun charge, his murder charge in connection to Harris’ death was dismissed, according to Tarrant County court records.

Kevin Kervin, the third defendant in Harris’ murder case, pleaded guilty in November and was sentenced to 60 years in prison, according to court documents.

Bryce Long, Harris’ cousin who is accused of killing Rhodes, is still awaiting trial.
