Woman shoots her former boyfriend during argument outside Arlington home, police say
A woman shot her former boyfriend outside of an Arlington home on Saturday night during an argument in which she was grazed and her current partner also was shot, police said.
Destiny Lokeni, 18, fired upon her 19-year-old former boyfriend about 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 in the 500 block of Claire Court, Arlington police said.
He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken in critical condition to a hospital.
Police arrested Lokeni on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
During the argument the ex-boyfriend slapped Lokeni, police said, attributing the account to a witness. Lokeni’s 20-year-old current boyfriend came outside, and the men got into a physical fight, police said.
Police said that witnesses told them they saw Lokeni pick up a gun and shoot the 19-year-old man.
While officers were speaking to Lokeni, they said they noticed she had been grazed in the arm. She was taken to a hospital.
Lokeni’s current boyfriend was shot and went by private vehicle to a hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening, police said.
The police department released a press statement about the domestic violence matter that did not make clear whether it alleged anyone other than Lokeni fired a gunshot.
