Two 17-year-olds were arrested Wednesday night after one of them allegedly fired a gun in a Fort Worth park and fled when officers tried to detain him, police said.

Patrol officers saw a silver Nissan enter Glenwood Park near the intersection of South Riverside Drive and East Vickery Boulevard shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 20. The vehicle stopped, and a man got out and discharged a firearm, according to police.

The officers tried to detain the Nissan’s occupants, but the driver accelerated and left the scene, police said. The suspect vehicle headed north on Riverside Drive with the officers in pursuit.

Someone threw a rifle out of the Nissan, which officers recovered, officials said. Fort Worth police followed the suspect vehicle into Arlington, where it came to a stop in the 1500 block of Eden Lane.

The chase lasted around 15 minutes, police said. Three occupants of the Nissan were detained at the scene. Two of them — Jacob Garcia and Ricardo Sierra — were booked into the Fort Worth City Jail, according to police records.

Garcia faces one charge of possession of a controlled substance. Sierra faces three charges, including deadly conduct in discharge of a firearm towards individuals, jail records show.

The Fort Worth police Air Support Unit assisted with the chase. Arlington police were informed of the pursuit but didn’t actively participate, officials said.
