A man accused of intentionally starting fires at apartments in east Fort Worth has been arrested and is facing arson charges, authorities said Tuesday.

Adam Ewing, 35, was arrested Monday, Nov. 18, by the Fire Department Arson and Bomb Investigation Division at an encampment for people experiencing homelessness near Eastchase Parkway, authorities said.

Ewing is facing three separate felony charges after authorities investigated three apartment fires on different days between Nov. 15 and Nov. 18.

Firefighters responded to the La Jolla Terrace Apartments at 8808 Hornaday Circle South on Nov. 15, again at 8801 Hornaday Circle North on Nov. 16, and to another apartment complex at 1400 Vanderbilt Street West on Nov. 18.

Heavy smoke and flames were reported from an upstairs unit of a two-story apartment in the Nov. 15 La Jolla Terrace fire, causing a partial building collapse and damaging eight apartments. More than 50 firefighters worked for over an hour to get the fire under control, authorities said.

Investigators determined that all three fires were intentionally set.

Ewing was arrested after detectives gathered surveillance video and spoke with witnesses. He was interviewed and then booked into the Tarrant County Jail.

Ewing is facing charges of arson of habitation by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, authorities said.
