Crime ring accused of stealing $10 million of merchandise from North Texas warehouses
Grapevine police recently arrested seven suspects accused of being involved in an organized crime ring that stole an estimated $10 million worth of merchandise from North Texas warehouses, according to a news release.
Police said they initiated an investigation after a warehouse burglary on May 13, when approximately $500,000 worth of Ray-Ban glasses and Oculus VR goggles were stolen.
The multi-million dollar cargo theft group has targeted different cities in Dallas, Tarrant and Collin counties, a spokesperson at Grapevine Police Department said.
Surveillance footage revealed that one suspect cut a hole in a bay door to access and unload merchandise from several pallets, police said.
A Grapevine police crime analyst created a comprehensive law enforcement bulletin featuring photos of the suspects, the stolen box truck used in the heist, and details of their methods that were shared with other law enforcement agencies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The same suspect group was linked to similar burglaries reported by a neighboring law enforcement agency, police said.
Another crime bulletin from 2023 was also identified from other North Texas cities involving suspects who used the same burglary methods, police said.
Suspects linked to at least seven burglaries committed between August 2023 and June 2024 was tracked down by Grapevine police and multiple agencies across North Texas, investigators said.
On Aug. 14, detectives observed a suspect vehicle returning to Grapevine and circling a warehouse known for storing large quantities of electronics. Police worked up a quick strategy of how they could try to confront the suspects, launched a drone for surveillance and confirmed an active burglary, the spokesperson said.
The patrol officers were able to prevent the theft of significant merchandise, the spokesperson said. Police arrested one suspect that night, and six more were arrested between August and early November.
Six suspects from Dallas who have been charged in the case include Adrian Ellison, 38; Julius Green, 40; Willie Hill, 38; Eric White, 33; Ronnie Vaden, 33; and Derrick White, 38. One suspect arrested from Carrollton was Fayzal Kara, 40. They face felony charges of engaging in organized criminal activity.
Grapevine police attribute the success of this operation to strong collaboration with neighboring law enforcement agencies, whose cooperation helped connect multiple cases and gather critical evidence, the news release stated.
“They went through all kinds of investigative leads over several months trying to find suspects and by working with other outside agencies,” the spokesperson said. “It was a very extensive process, and I think they did a great job, and should be commended for that work.”
