2 men arrested in fatal road rage shooting of 16-year-old in Haltom City in September
Two men have been arrested and charged in the Sept. 15 fatal road rage shooting of a 16-year-old in Haltom City, police said in a news release Tuesday.
The victim, Raul Gonzalez Jr., died at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth eight days after he was shot during the road rage incident in the 4400 block of East Belknap Street between 4:15 and 4:45 a.m.
Haltom City detectives, Fort Worth police and a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force combined efforts to identify the suspects, Jasue Moreno and Juan Perez, both 21, according to the release.
Moreno was arrested at his work place on Nov. 8 and faces charges of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and fabricating physical evidence, police said.
On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Perez was arrested in Fort Worth and faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
“Starting with only a blurry picture of the suspect vehicle, detectives began the tedious process of developing leads,” Haltom City police said. “Their determination and tireless efforts paid off.”
This is still an ongoing investigation, and additional arrests and charges may be forthcoming, police said.
